Privacy Policy
(Last updated: 02/09/2025)
At www.joshuabeniston.com, we are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Yes, that’s the official legal stuff — but don’t worry, I’ll try to keep this human and a little fun while we go through the serious bits.
What information do we collect and how do we use it?
When you ask me to help with your finance, I’ll need to collect some personal information. This might include sensitive information (like health details) or anything relevant to your financial situation — even things like whether you’ve got any vulnerabilities that I should take into account.
I use this information to give you advice and assist with your credit needs. I only provide your information to the companies you actually want to deal with (and their reps), not to random strangers on the internet.
I may also:
-
Send you the product info you asked for.
-
Manage our ongoing relationship (think invoices, check-ins, surveys, etc.).
-
Occasionally tell you about new services, promotions, or useful articles — by email or post. (If that’s not your cup of tea, just let me know and I’ll stop).
-
Use it behind the scenes to improve my services and fix issues.
What if you don’t give me the info?
If you don’t give me the full picture of your financial situation, I can’t give you proper advice. (It’s like trying to bake a cake without flour… it just won’t rise.)
How do we hold and protect your information?
I do my best to keep your personal information reliable, accurate, and secure. I’ll keep it only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the services you asked for, or to meet legal and ethical obligations. After that, it doesn’t hang around forever.
Will we disclose your info to anyone?
I don’t sell, rent, or trade your information — not even for a really good coffee machine.
That said, I may need to provide your details to:
-
My credit licensee (for admin and supervision stuff).
-
Contractors (like people who help with mailings or tech).
-
Other companies if there’s a sale, merger, or big shake-up.
Of course, I’ll do my best to ensure anyone I share your info with protects it the way I do.
Sometimes I may also need to share your info if the law requires it, or in other unusual situations allowed under the Privacy Act.
How can you check, update, or change your info?
Send me a written request (with enough detail to identify you), and I’ll tell you what personal information I hold about you. If something’s inaccurate, I’ll fix it, amend it, or delete it if appropriate.
I don’t charge for requests or corrections — I’m nice like that.
Your consent
By asking me to assist with your credit needs, you consent to me collecting and using your information as outlined here.
Tell me what you think
Got thoughts, questions, or privacy-related midnight worries? I’d love to hear them.
Complaints (the not-so-fun part)
If you have a complaint, please let me know — because if I don’t know about it, I can’t fix it.
-
Email your complaint to: josh@newstartfs.com.au
-
Include as much info as possible and make it clear what’s wrong.
-
Complaints must be in writing (yes, the lawyers made me say that).
Once I receive your complaint, I’ll try to resolve it promptly.
